Fall Fastpitch

THE BASICS ABOUT FALL FASTPITCH

Club 612 will organize 8U through 18U fastpitch teams for the fall season. Fall Ball is considered a developmental season. The game and practice schedule is more relaxed than summer ball. Teams play 4 weeks of double headers one day per week and finish the season in week 5 with the state tournament.  Coaches try to practice  one day per week.  Since multi-sport athletes play fall ball, attendance requirements are modified to allow greater flexibility. The short five week season gives new families an affordable taste of travel fastpitch. For seasoned players, it is a a time for fun and growth.

Games and Practices: Games are double-headers on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. There may be no "home" games in Minneapolis. Games are scheduled at multi-field facilities in the greater Metro with some travel in the 60-90 minute range. Practices will start prior to the first game.

Equipment:  Players will be required to provide their own glove, pants, softball shoes (metal cleats allowed 14U and up) and a fielder's mask is highly encouraged for all levels. Club 612 will provide bats, a limited number of helmets, balls, catcher's gear (you can also use your own), practice equipment,

Optional equipment:
Sliding shorts
Sliding pad
Batting gloves
Batting helmets with mask and chin strap. (Required).
Bats (ASA Approved) For a complete list of legal bats visit the ASA’s Web site at www.asasoftball.com.
Softball Bag: To hold items such as --- sunscreen, bug spray, batting gloves, sweatpants, sweatshirt, raincoat, ball for glove, glove oil, hat, visor, or sunglasses, extra shoelaces, dry socks, and a small amount of money.

How To Get More Players Out For Fall Ball?
At 612 we are very proud of our approach to building teams, allowing players to pick and chose their seasons. While we anticipate good demand for our programs, players and parents play a role in the health of our program.  If you have played for 612 in the past or attended clinics, you can help out by spreading the word to friends and neighbors. Current players can help by reaching out to a school teammate who didn't play during the summer, or recruiting new athletes who might be intrigued by the game but who don't know where to get started.

What is So Great About Fall Ball?
For those unfamiliar, Fall Ball is a shorter season, and is 100% focused on team-building and player development. Fall ball is designed for beginners and experienced players and is a great opportunity for players of all levels to advance their skills. Fall is a great time for softball. The weather is still excellent allowing teams to get valuable weekday practices in and games on the weekends.

There will be no games over the Labor Day weekend.

FALL BALL PRIMER FOR 612 FAMILIES

Get to Know Fall Ball

612 Fastpitch offers a Fall Season for a myriad of reasons. Some of our families are year-round players and fall is a great time to play softball. Fall Ball is a season where many athletes try travel fastpitch for the first time. Since fall is not the “in-season” time for softball, the schedule is lighter. There are fewer games and no tournaments except for the final week of play which is integrated into the 5-week schedule. It also means a multi-sport athlete can prioritize their Fall Sport if conflicts arise. Keep in mind if you are on a roster, your team depends on you to be there for the weekend games which generally do not compete with other school sports teams.

Deadlines and Roster Spots

The 612 Fall Ball registration window is short- June 30th - July 12th, for the 2025 season. Players who register inside the deadlines will be given priority for available roster spots. 612 reserves the right to extend the registration to fill out teams.

Fall is a great time for softball! The weather is still excellent allowing teams to get valuable weekday practices in and games on the weekends.
